After a rewarding career as a horse racing jockey, Billy Peterson has been in the financial services industry since 1996. In 1995, before he retired, he led all jockeys nationally in Quarter Horse earnings. He worked for several multi-national investment firms before opening his financial planning firm in 2009 – Peterson Wealth Services, Inc., which manages nearly 500 million in client assets nationwide.
Billy received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Texas at El Paso in 1995 and later obtained both the Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) and Certified Divorce Financial Analyst (CDFA®) designations. He has been selected as a Forbes Best-in-State Financial Advisor for six years and has also been named to the Barron’s list of Top Advisors in the United States. He has appeared in The Wall Street Journal online, KUTV-4 News, and his articles have been published in several national and local magazines. He was frequently featured on ESPN, TNT, TVG, and other nationwide networks and radio shows during his racing career. He serves on several local and national boards primarily focused on the horse racing industry.
His most significant accomplishments are being the proud father of five wonderful children and marrying the love of his life, Heather. He resides in Morgan, Utah, with his family on their property known as Buck Way Ranch. He was the head coach of the high school softball team for eight years, and he teaches his children the value of hard work and financial freedom. He spends his free time raising and racing horses.
