John Layne is an International Multi-Award Winning Author, screenwriter, and actor. He is also a retired police detective. He holds multiple college degrees, including a Bachelor’s Degree in History and Psychology, and a Masters’s Degree in Management. His professional writing career began in the sports industry, where he wrote articles for national magazines and online publications. His theatrical influences include John Wayne, James Stewart, Clint Eastwood, and Tom Hanks, and directors John Ford, Henry Hathaway, and Howard Hawks. He drew literary inspiration from Louis L’Amour, Zane Grey, Robert B. Parker, and C. J. Box. His passion for history and the classic Western genre inspired him to write short stories on the Old West and three novels to date: “Gunslingers A Story of the Old West,” “Red River Reunion,” and “Return to Canyon Creek.” John is a member of the Writer’s Guild, Western Writers of America, Wyoming Writers Association, and the Oklahoma Writers Federation.
