Dear Author Marieke Lexmond,
Recently, I began reading The Madigan Chronicle series, starting with the first book, The Dagger. After immersing myself in that captivating story, I eagerly moved on to the second book, The Magical Tarot Deck.
I recommend starting with The Dagger. With that background, the transition into the new adventure is smoother and the experience richer. The story has many interesting characters and plots, and I am happy I read the first book. The characters were easier to follow as I was already familiar with the first story. Escaping into the fantasy world of these stories has been a real treat.
The concept of the Magical Tarot Deck is brilliant, with each card representing a distinct family member who offers insights into a question. Having admired tarot for a long time, I found the illustrations at the beginning of each chapter captivating. Reading this book took me back to my first encounter with tarot cards many years ago. I remember shuffling through the deck, mesmerized by the artwork and curious about each card’s stories. It’s clear that your passion for the craft shines through in every detail as you make each card come to life.
You blend the familiar and the fantastic. The story uses New Orleans as its setting and blends typical family issues with magical elements, such as fairies and spells. As I read, I felt like I was drifting in and out of each dimension, immersed in the experience. Your descriptions of New Orleans make me want to return and experience its magic again. Meeting the Madigans there would be a real treat!
Thank you for creating a series that is both enchanting and relatable. I’m looking forward to the next book in the series and can’t wait to see where the Madigans’ journey takes them next. Until then, I will recommend The Madigan Chronicles to anyone who could use a bit of magic in their life.
With admiration,
